Posters
We had to work about scientific posters, I found this rules:
- Find out what the poster size should be, what formats (such as font size) you should use, where it will be displayed, and who will see it.
- Plan the content of your poster. Choose a heading. Select what information to include and what to leave out.
- Use graphs, tables and coloured illustrations. Use photographs, provided that they help you to make your points. - Make a sketch of the layout of your poster.- Under the heading write your names and school name.- Colour attracts attention, but too much can be distracting. Use one colour for all of the text and one for the background. Dark type on a light background is easiest to read.- Don’t overcrowd your poster. Leave space around the text.
- A poster is read like a newspaper or magazine. Type text in columns. Columns should not vary in width.
- The information flow should be from top to bottom or from left to right, but not both or the reader can get confused.
- The captions and illustrations should be large enough to read from two metres away.
- Use a computer to display text clearly, and to process data for tables and graphs. Use plain fonts such as Arial, Helvetica, and Times New Roman. Spell-check and get someone else to ‘proof-read’ your poster.
- If a suitable printer is available, print the whole poster on one large sheet so you don’t need to use glue.
I thinks it’s basics rules but if we respect them we will have a good poster. The best posters I have seen on the site of north carolina university respect this rules. (I found it on nuffield foundation website)

First post in “lesson” categories since 1 month! and the last because monday was the last lesson!
We read an article about recycling CO2 into petrol, we had to take notes from the article and after compare with the correction. I think mine was not very good because I have not enough box and arrow, so it was a little bit not organize! My boxes were too big and there were too many information inside every one and I had only 4 arrows (in the correction: more than 10!). Even if my notes were bad, I understood the article and I found it interessant because I never tought it could be a research subject.
After that we had to read 2 articles from our teacher, it was articles drawn of physics world. The first talk about the use of english language in scientific conference. It explain that non-native speakers understand themselves and hardly understand native speakers. The second is about the same subject: native and non-native english speakers. Mrs Anne says that each english speaking country has its own dialect, and scientifics must be speak a standard english to be understanding by the non-native speakers scientifics.

I find a room on the campus!
Why? Because doctors were agree I came back to university but not I took tram, like I live in the city center, I have had a problem to go to class. But finally I asked a room for one month and CROUS found me one in “Berlioz”. That’s why I was not in class, I had to do the entrance check.
It was my first school day since my accident, it was a little bit difficult to stay all the morning sitting on my chair but I am very happy to come back, because I begun to get bored at home!

Normally the holidays was finished but I wasn’t authorized to go to university. I have to see an orthopedist to control my fracture. He decided that I had to wear a corset. The good new is that, with a corset I could come back university the next week.
During the week I had no time to be bored: I had 3 times kinesitherapy and 2 times to make and try the corset.
The man who did the corset said me that it would be difficult to stay an all day in class because be sit down is very uncomfortable at the beginning with a corset. SO, the week-end I try to stay more time as possible sit down but it’s painful.

I was on holidays in Saint-François-Longchamps with my family to do skiing and snowboarding. Unfortunately I felt down and hurt my back. The safety team came me down to the health center. In the health center the doctor called an ambulance to go to the hospital because he prefered I had more exams. In the hospital the orthopedic surgeon didn’t want I left the hospital before more some days. Finally they said me I had a vertebral fracture. I left the hospital the wenesday afternoon to came back home in an ambulance (I had to be lie down all the time) and I spent the rest of my holiday on my bed.

At the beginning of this lesson we talked about our blog: if we had any problems… and I left the address of my blog on the class blog for that other students and teacher had my address but I think it didn’t work because Mrs Anne doens’t correct my mistakes!
Then we worked about RSS. We watched a sort of animate about RSS:”RSS:The new biller app.” It was more a hearing exercise than a watching exercise because most of time the man who explain, only spoke and spoke without illustratewhat he said. Before I didn’t really know RSS but now I know better what it is: RSS can be Rich Site Summary or Real Simple Syndication. It brings content to the user. There are 2 parts to RSS: feeds (ie url) and aggregators. Most weblogs have built in RSS feeds, why? because it takes less times for more content and more control. It’s too for this reason that many traditionnal media have created RSS feeds. I think if I learn to use it, it can be useful but for the moment I have no time to do it.

It’s the lesson I (normally) began this blog! Why normally?…
The blog will replace the log book we had to do, so we started registered during the lesson, but for me it didn’t work, I never received the mail to confirm my password so I waited, I waited…, but nothing (Today, I don’t yet receive it) . After one hour I try to create another blog but when I put my email address, edublog tell me that I can’t use this address because it’s already used! and the site advise to not use university address… So I didn’t create my blog during the lesson.
To create my blog I had to create an other email address and, only after that, create my blog, sometime it’s complicate to do homework !!!
otherwise during this lesson we learn some idiomatic expressions and do exercise about time, exercise were a little bit difficult for me

It was my first day in Monday class.
At the beginning of the lesson, students who were in this class the first week told the others what they have done. Then we documentary about Richard Feynman. We had yo take note with a specific method: we separate our sheet of paper in three parts: on right there is a column to write down the keywords, on the left there is the main part where we take notes and on the bottom there is a5 cm height part to do a summary of the notes. It was a little bit strange at the beginning, but after I did the summary I understood better why it can be a good method: with the notes you define keywords and you can do a global summary.
At the end of the video we compared our keywords, we were in little groups of 4 about to discuss our choices, and we answered some questions about the subject.

my first lesson was thursday 24 january, it was not the same class that now! Why?… It’s just it was impossible for me to be present at every lesson the thusrday, so I ask my teacher to change of group. It’s like that I’m now at the Monday course!
During this lesson we didn’t do lot of things, for beginning we introduce ourselves because we came from 3 place: mechanics of course , biology and ecology. Then the teacher introduce himself and talk about the organisation of his lessons. His idea was we make little groups (2 or 3) and every group choose a subject (for example pollution,…) . At each lesson one group present his subject with paper article, extract from video… and begin a debate about the subject, all the class can participe to the debate. After that we did some exercise of reading and comprehension. The subject was “television addiction”. The question for comprehension were not very exciting but the reading was very interesting, do you know that, on average people spend more time to watch tv than to do other leisure activities? There were so many things like that in the article.
